Mental health issues are becoming more and more prevalent in today’s society and particularly among young people. With funding for mental health issues high on the public’s agenda, it’s very easy to get caught up in the hype without understanding the sheer scale of the problem that can affect so many people in one way or another.

MQ Health, a nationwide charity, have been conducting tonnes of research into mental health and in particular, mental health in the young people of the UK and have come back with some downright frightening statistics. As parents, we always want what is best for our kids and to look out for them in all ways we can, which is why it is so important to be open and frank about these topics and why the way we tackle the issues surrounding them are subject to so much scrutiny. This stuff is important, and yet research has found that people are desperately unaware of the real extent of the problem.

This infographic is a brief look at MQ Health’s findings. It highlights the desperate need for increased funding into research and treatment of mental illness across the board, and to increase the support for young people in crisis.
