Yes, I am pregnant. Slimming World is approved by the Royal College of Midwives as the ideal eating plan to follow whilst pregnant to give your baby all the nutrients they need and she signs off on my progress regularly. Before anyone starts panicking that I am losing weight whilst carrying a baby, it is all above board and under the supervision of health professionals. Anyone who is pregnant and wanting to follow any kind of eating plan should always run it by their midwives first. I am playing it safe and so should you.
So as this blog grows, you’ll come to see that a big part of our lives is food – for good reasons and bad. The pair of us love food, but we’re not fussy and that means that over the initial couple of years of our relationship, Wes and I expanded.
Enter Slimming World – it’s a diet, I suppose, but in reality it’s just common sense. Don’t eat processed junk, be sensible in your choices and use your imagination a bit to make awesome, tasty food. We love it, when we put our minds to it and we’re now back on the wagon in the final weeks before the baby is here so that we can readjust our eating habits properly.
We get weighed on a Monday, but as the linky is #WeightLossWednesday we’ll delay the updates until then. This week, we’ve been a bit rubbish – we haven’t planned anything, we haven’t had much food in and generally just haven’t had the motivation to eat properly and so we hadn’t.
So imagine our shock when we jump on the scales to find that Wes has maintained his weight and I (somehow) lost 4lbs! It’s a fluke, but we are taking it and running like hell with it but I’m not expecting anything like this in future. My body at the moment is going through a whole bunch of changes that I don’t understand – but if I carry on this week a bit better than I have been it can only be a good thing. Wes? Well, he’s getting Slimmer of the Week this week – you heard it here first!
So what’s the plan for this week?
Dusting off the exercise bike – It’s become a clothes horse. That’s not good. My Tuesday night has consisted of clearing out that black hole at the end of our bedroom and making it a place we can use again, so this baby is coming out to play. I’m clearly in no fit state to head to a gym, but battling past the expanding bump is much easier on a reclining bike like ours.
Planning ahead! – I am going to plan. THEN shop. Not the other way around. I also find that doing it online means I don’t have to physically walk past the cakes, the crisps and the other awesome goodies that my hands gravitate towards. So that’s happening too.
Sharing the journey – Now that this is up and running, I’m going to make a concerted effort to make sure I remain accountable not only at group but to you guys as well. I’m planning on posting a couple of recipes and general tidbits to try and keep me focused and you guys stocked with inspiration in general. Win-win right?
