Yes, I am pregnant on Slimming World. Slimming World is approved by the Royal College of Midwives as the ideal eating plan to follow whilst pregnant to give your baby all the nutrients they need and she signs off on my progress regularly. Before anyone starts panicking that I am (trying to) lose weight whilst carrying a baby, it is all above board and under the supervision of health professionals. Anyone who is pregnant and wanting to follow any kind of eating plan should always run it by their midwives first. I am playing it safe and so should you.
It’s that time of the week again, it’s #WeightLossWednesday and our usual Slimming World round up of the week. As most of you probably know, we get weighed on a Monday night but we save this until Wednesday – some weeks, that’s so we can let the disappointment sink in and bring ourselves round to talking about it.
This week, is not one of those weeks.
I’m not sure I like the term ‘smashed it’ but the scales say that we did, so I’m taking it. I lost 3.5lbs after the disappointment of last week when I gained 2.5 of them. Wes put me to shame however, with 7.5lbs off. 7.5lbs! As ridiculous as that sounds, you get used to those numbers when losing weight with Wes…
The relief after last week for me, was pretty staggering. I was getting a little bit panicked (illogically, I admit) that I was about to put on two stone in the last six weeks of pregnancy. Clearly I’m not, even as the urge to gorge on cream cake and crisps increases with each more uncomfortable day and this just brought it home that I am totally in control.
We weren’t perfect to get these numbers either.
We ate out twice this week because my grandparents were over, but we made much better choices than we would have normally – we opted for meat dishes with vegetables rather than chips. The one time we did slip up and have a pudding, we shared it. It doesn’t sound like much, but really that’s a big thing for us because normally a meal out means ‘Slimming World does not exist today’. It’s all about choices we make and this week, we mostly made the correct choices.
Needless to say, this week we’re as determined as we were last week and are pretty intent on having two weight losses (or in my case, I’ll settle for a maintain) in a row. Something I haven’t managed in over a month. I just want something to show that I’m making progress, rather than just maintaining weight in the most erratic way possible because that’s making me feel unhealthy.
The plan this week is not to be quite so lazy in terms of meals. I’ve been meaning to post blogs with recipes in them so I’m determined to do a couple of those this week to help keep us on the straight and narrow. We are off out for Father’s Day this weekend, but it shouldn’t be too much of a problem to overcome if last week was anything to go by. My mum is on plan too, so she will be there to make sure we don’t stray too far!
Hopefully everyone had a week half as progressive as ours – if we can go again for something similar next week, you’ll see a very happy Amy. Even if I stay this weight now until I give birth I will be very satisfied.
Until next Wednesday though, hopefully these recipes I keep promising myself for this blog might actually materialise!
